Neapolitan Pizza in the Heart of Lisbon: My Evening at Lupita

Last summer, while wandering through the Baixa district of Lisbon, I found myself drawn to the lively buzz of a little pizzeria called Lupita.

With its large, wall-sized windows—perfect for people-watching and soaking in the street scenes—the place immediately caught my eye. The smell of wood-fired dough drifted into the air, mingling with the warm hum of a small but packed dining room. Lupita doesn’t take bookings, so expect to queue for a little while—but it’s worth it. I eventually grabbed a seat and went for a timeless pepperoni. They specialise in Neapolitan-style pizzas, and this one didn’t disappoint: the crust was light, blistered, and full of flavour, with just the right balance of spice and comfort.

As I glanced around the room, I could see that every pizza was thoughtfully topped—familiar ingredients paired in unexpected ways, each one with a creative twist. I sipped a chilled glass of natural wine and watched the space come alive with laughter, couples sharing slices, staff weaving easily between tables. It felt like the kind of place you hope to find when you travel—local, effortless, and full of heart.
